In March, Bratislava will host an exhibition featuring unique copies of icons dating from the 13th to the 16th centuries, sourced from the collection of the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve. This was announced by the Russian Embassy in Slovakia, as reported by TASS.

The exhibition, titled "Silent Sermon," will showcase ultraviolet-printed copies of ancient Russian icon masterpieces, created using state-of-the-art computer technologies. The event aims to symbolize various stages of the development of this distinctive form of art.

The Russian Ambassador to Slovakia, Igor Bratchikov, held a meeting with Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemyatovsky), a representative of the Orthodox Church of Czech Lands and Slovakia under the Moscow Patriarchate, to discuss the upcoming exhibition. The exhibition has previously been displayed in various cities in Russia and Europe. In November 2023, it was featured at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Vienna, presenting 12 copies of iconic monuments from the Novgorod Museum-Reserve's collection.

Among the showcased copies were the ancient Russian inscribed icon "Saint Nicholas" from 1294, the mid-15th-century "Battle of Novgorodians with Suzdalians," and the 1467 "Deisis Rank and Praying Novgorodians," known for its rare iconographic composition. The upcoming exhibition in Bratislava is expected to offer visitors a unique glimpse into Russia's rich iconographic heritage.
