On the memorial day of St. Tikhon, Bishop of Amafunt, on June 29, a procession was held in the Balakhninsky deanery of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese.
The prayer procession from the chapel church in honor of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky in Balakhna to the holy spring of St. Tikhon of Amafunt, in the village of Yasnevo, was held with the blessing of Metropolitan George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. The total length of the route was 16.7 kilometers.
First, Archpriest Maxim Kuznetsov, a cleric of the Balakhna deanery, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Alexander Nevsky Chapel, co-served by Deacon Georgy Rodionov. Parishioners of the churches of the Balakhna deanery and members of the Orthodox youth movement "Heritage" prayed during the divine service. Many have received communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
Then the crusaders set off on their journey with a prayer for peace, the health of their loved ones and spiritual help. At the Tikhonov spring, the choristers of the cathedral church in honor of the Nativity of Christ in Balakhny and the choir deanery sang an akathist to St. Tikhon of Amafunt. After that, a meal was organized for all participants of the procession, prepared by the benefactors and volunteers of the deanery.
