On July 5, the 28th All-Russian Religious Procession, which united thousands of pilgrims from different regions of Russia for seven days, came to a solemn end in the village of Korobeynikovo in the Ust-Pristansky district of the Altai Territory. The faithful walked about 250 kilometers from Barnaul's Pokrovsky Cathedral to the miraculous Korobeynikov Icon of the Mother of God, the main shrine of the Altai land.
The solemn procession started on June 28 with the blessing of Metropolitan Sergius of Barnaul and Altai. The route of the pilgrims, as in previous years, passed through the settlements of Buranovo, Kalmanka, Beloyarovka, Aleisk, Ust-Pier and Yelbank.
Throughout the journey, Divine Liturgies and prayer services were served daily for the participants of the procession, and akathists of the Mother of God were read. The organizers provided the pilgrims with two meals a day, and a special transport was provided to transport their belongings. Along the way, the procession was accompanied by a belfry, a marching temple on wheels and a field kitchen.
According to the Altai Archdiocese, more than a thousand believers took part in the procession this year. The pilgrims overcame a difficult journey mainly in conditions of extreme heat.
The final point of the route was the Korobeynikov Monastery, where the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is kept. The arrival of the pilgrims was marked by festive divine services in the monastery church.
The 28th Barnaul – Korobeynikovo All-Russian Religious Procession has become one of the largest Orthodox pilgrimages in Siberia, annually gathering believers from all over the country and even from abroad.
