On August 26, 2026, with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, an educational conference for the monastics of the district on the topic "Practical fulfillment of monastic vows in modern conditions" was held in the throne room of the spiritual and Cultural center of the Metropolitan Joseph (Chernov) Kazakhstan Metropolitan District in Alma Ata.
The forum, chaired by Metropolitan Alexander, was attended by: vicars of the Astana diocese Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan and Bishop Veniamin of Talgar; dean of the Astana Church district Archimandrite Sergiy (Karamyshev); confessor of the Alma Ata diocese Archimandrite John (Sazonov); confessor of the Astana convent in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Recovery of the Dead" Hieromonk Modest (Drozdov); member of the Patriarchal Commission on Physical Culture and Sports, Hegumen Philip (Moiseev); Secretary of the Kostanay Diocese, Hieromonk Gennady (Burdyuzha); monastics of the Metropolitan area.
Opening the conference, Metropolitan Alexander addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, noting the relevance of the topic of the scientific event and wishing the participants successful and fruitful work.
The meeting was followed by presentations:
• "The immutability of the essence of monastic vows in any era" — Bishop Claudian of Taldykorgan;
• "The vow of obedience as the basis of the monastic path" — Bishop Veniamin of Talgar;
• "The influence of modern technologies and gadgets on the inner world of monastics" — Abbot Trifon (Pechkovsky), rector of the Serafimo-Feognostovo Male Desert;
• "The main temptations of the modern world in the fulfillment of monastic vows" — Abbot Philip (Moiseev);
• "Ways of practical fulfillment of vows in the life of monastics" — Hieromonk Filofey (Bobov), rector of the church of St. Nicholas of Alma Ata in the village of Irgeli;
• "Topical issues of the inner life of monasteries" — Abbess of the Bogoroditse-Rozhdestvensky convent in Karaganda, Abbess Olympiada (Salopeko).
There was a discussion on a wide range of issues. At the end of the meeting, the final document was adopted.
