On July 8, Metropolitan Theodosios (Snigirev) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) suffered his second heart attack this year. As a result, the planned court session scheduled for today was postponed, according to Suspilne-media.

"In Cherkasy, the Sosnivskyi District Court session on July 9 regarding the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, Metropolitan Theodosios , who has been on trial for over a year, did not take place... In court, the defense lawyer presented a hospitalization certificate. The lawyer noted that Theodosios is currently receiving treatment following a heart attack on July 8, and the doctor has prescribed bed rest in preparation for hospitalization," the statement said.

This is not the first heart attack for Metropolitan Theodosios ; earlier in February this year, he was also hospitalized. The Cherkasy Diocese has requested believers to pray for the health of the Metropolitan.

In spring 2023, a court in Cherkasy placed Metropolitan Theodosios under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. In December, the court lifted the round-the-clock arrest, leaving the hierarch under night-time house arrest. The Metropolitan is accused of inciting religious hatred. The Ukrainian court on July 27 ordered round-the-clock house arrest for the Metropolitan for two months.
