After more than a hundred years of silence, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the church where the great Russian composer Peter Tchaikovsky was baptized.

On the 21 of September, 2021, on the great feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the upper church of the Annunciation cathedral in the town of Votkinsk in Udmurtiya. This is the first Liturgy to be celebrated in the main church of the cathedral, which is still being restored after the previous decades of destruction and neglect.

The Annunciation Cathedral was built in 1817-1818, and is the largest in Udmurtiya. It is famous because Peter Tchaikovsky was baptized here 180 years ago. The cathedral was also where the hieromartyr archpriest Nikolay Chernyshov served. He was martyred in 1919. After the Revolution, the church was closed and was turned into a club. The restoration began 15 years ago, and continues to this day.

Until now, the divine services have been held only in the lower church, whereas the main church remained vacant.
