Russian grave of the great Russian commander Mikhail Kutuzov was commemorated by Priest Igor Marchuk at Kazan Cathedral on September 16, the 279th anniversary of the birth of Field Marshal General.
The leadership, officers and cadets of the Military Space Academy named after Alexander Mozhaisky, the successor educational institution of the Artillery and Engineering Gentry School from which Kutuzov graduated, prayed during the service.
"It is a great honor for us priests to serve near the resting place of the great commander," Father Igor said. - When we pray for the deceased, especially those who have become famous for their good lives, they also pray for us before God. And now we will pray for the repose of Mikhail Illarionovich's soul, so that he may ask God for the health of all of you, well-being in your studies and military career."
Colonel Viktor Chizhov, Deputy head of the Academy for Military and Political Work, noted that the educational institution is famous for its tradition of honoring the memory of military leaders, great people of Russia who laid down their lives for the good of the Motherland.
Professor of the Department of History and Philosophy Yuri Nikulin spoke about the biography of the commander.
Flowers were laid at the monument to Mikhail Kutuzov on the square near the cathedral.
According to documents discovered in the archive by researchers of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineering and Communications Troops, the commander was born on September 5/16, 1747, and not 1745, as previously thought.
