With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, on August 20, 2026, the ark bearing the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt began to be brought from the island of Corfu to the regions of Russia. On this day, the shrine was delivered on a special flight to Cheboksary. The offering of the relics of St. Spyridon will cover thirteen regions and will end on September 20 in Moscow.
At Cheboksary International Airport named after A.G. Nikolaev, the shrine and its accompanying delegation were met by Metropolitan Savvaty of Cheboksary and Chuvash, clergy of the Chuvash Metropolis.
Then the ark was taken to the Vvedensky Cathedral, where Metropolitan Savvaty of Cheboksary and Chuvash performed a prayer service to St. Spyridon, co-served by the bishops and clergy of the Chuvash metropolis and members of the Greek delegation.
Access to the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt in the Vvedensky Cathedral was opened at the end of the prayer service and lasted until 15.00 on August 21. During the shrine's stay in the cathedral, prayer services with the akathist to St. Spyridon were performed.
On August 20, the head of the Chuvash Republic, O.A. Nikolaev, gave a reception in Cheboksary in honor of the offering of the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt.
On August 21, the feast day of Saints Zosima and Savvati of Solovetsky, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Vvedensky Cathedral. The service was led by Metropolitan Savvaty of Cheboksary and Chuvashia and Metropolitan Nectarius of Kerkyra, Paxos and Diapontia Islands.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated in Church Slavonic, Greek and Chuvash languages.
At the special litany, petitions were offered for the unity of the Orthodox Church and the preservation of the Church from divisions and schisms, as well as a prayer for Holy Russia.
On August 21, the shrine was seen off. They began with a procession from the Vvedensky Cathedral along the "Road to the Temple" to the Cheboksary River Port. The procession was led by Metropolitan Savvati.
Bishop Stefan, Bishop Theodosius, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chuvash Republic V.G. Stepanov, Deputy of the State Council of the Chuvash Republic F.M. Stepanov, clergy and monastics of the Chuvash Metropolis, and numerous believers also took part in the procession. In total, several thousand people participated in the procession.
Upon arrival of the procession to the River Port, a prayer service was held.
At the end of the solemn ceremony, the ark with the shrine was handed over to Metropolitan Nektary, accompanied by the singing of prayers of greatness to St. Spyridon.
The head of the Chuvash Metropolia thanked the Greek delegation for the joy of prayer during the days of bringing the relics of St. Spyridon to Chuvashia.
Metropolitan Nektary then transferred the ark with the relics aboard the high-speed vessel Valdai. Then the shrine, accompanied by the Greek delegation, will proceed along the Volga River to Kazan.
During the stay of the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt in Cheboksary, about 25,000 believers worshiped the shrine.
