Metropolitan Antonii of Volokolamsk, the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, stated that the Russian Orthodox Church may join the Christian Conference of Asia. He highlighted the active development of the Russian Church's presence in certain regions of Asia and expressed confidence that the dialogue would continue.

"I visited India last autumn, where I spoke at the General Assembly of the Christian Conference of Asia. Our presence there sparked great interest among the member churches of the conference," said Metropolitan Antonii, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

The Christian Conference of Asia was founded in 1957 with the aim of promoting cooperation among Christians in the region and fostering the development of inter-church relations. It brings together most of the Christian churches in Asia and serves as the largest platform for inter-Christian dialogue in this part of the world.

"The Russian Orthodox Church has been present in Asia for centuries. A significant part of Russia's territory is also located in this part of the world. Today, our presence is actively developing in certain regions of Asia, with the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia in operation," emphasized Metropolitan Antonii.

Established in 2018, the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia operates in thirteen countries in the region. The exarchate consists of four dioceses: Singaporean, Korean, Thai, and Filipino-Vietnamese. Russian Church parishes are located in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, East Timor, Papua New Guinea, North Korea, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
