The Russian Church provides assistance to victims of a drone strike on the Tokmak city market

On July 3, 2026, an enemy drone attacked a citywide market in Tokmak, Zaporizhia region. As a result of the strike, five people were killed and 18 others were injured. The injured were promptly taken to Tokmak Central District Hospital by ambulance crews.
The staff of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission's assistance center in Tokmak visited the hospital and talked with doctors. Victoria Leskova, coordinator of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission's assistance center in Tokmak, commented on the situation: "We brought drinking water, bandages and hygiene products to the hospital. Doctors are currently providing first aid, and we are in touch with them. We are keeping the situation under control."
The clergy of the Berdyansk diocese make rounds of the wounded, pray with them and talk to the relatives of the victims, comforting them. Archpriest Nikolai Ronzhin, rector of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tokmak, handed over a car and fuel to Tokmak Central City Hospital.
Rector of the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Kirovo Tokmak deanery, Priest Alexander Umansky, performed a short prayer service for the sick in the surgery department.
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission Center has been operating in Tokmak since November 2025 with the support of the Berdyansk Diocese. The mission's volunteers provide targeted assistance to internally displaced persons, lonely elderly citizens and people in difficult situations. About 70 volunteers from all over the country attended the service, and over 700 requests for help were processed.
