On the night of August 29, 2026, the Aksai district of the Rostov region was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. There are casualties as a result of the incident.: people received shrapnel wounds of varying severity, concussions and other injuries. The wounded were promptly taken to Aksai City Hospital, where they received the necessary medical care. As of today, there are no fatalities.
As a result of the attack, private residential buildings and an apartment building were seriously damaged. The affected residents needed help in rebuilding their homes and solving household issues.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Mercury of Rostov and Novocherkassk, a fundraiser was organized in the parishes of the Rostov diocese to help the victims. In total, we managed to collect 188,925 rubles. The funds raised will be used to restore damaged buildings, in particular to repair house facades and replace window frames.
Hieromonk Vikenty (Svistunov), Dean of Aksai district, interacts with the Aksai city administration and coordinates the provision of necessary assistance to families in need. Hieromonk Vikenty expressed his words of support: "In these difficult days, you feel especially acutely how fragile our earthly peace is and how precious human life is. But human warmth is no less precious: a word of comfort, an outstretched hand, a common prayer. We perceive this trouble as our own, because there is no pain from others when it comes to our neighbors. We are close by, we are praying and trying to do something to ease the burden of the affected families. And the Lord, seeing human compassion, will certainly bow His mercy and give strength to overcome everything."
Financial support reached those who needed it most: several families received help, including a single parishioner from one of the deanery's churches. One of the victims thanked everyone who did not stand aside: "Many thanks for the care shown to the clergy, to all parishioners. On Friday, I was standing at a festive service in the temple, and at night this misfortune happened. I thank the Lord: you cannot prepare for such trials, but my heart is full of gratitude for the mercy and attention that has come through you, through everyone who prays and responds. Now there is a chance to make repairs before the first cold weather."
The Sisters of Mercy continue to provide assistance to the victims in cooperation with Aksai City Hospital. At the request of the medical institution, the sisters are ready to provide the necessary support, including accompanying patients, helping with household issues and providing spiritual assistance to those in need.
The scale of the incident required coordinated actions by all services: in connection with the massive UAV attack on Aksai district, an extraordinary meeting of the district commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations was held. The meeting was attended by heads of settlement administrations, representatives of the police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and resource supply organizations.
As a result of the attack, residential buildings were damaged not only in Aksai, but also in Bolshelogsky and Olginsky settlements, as well as fires in warehouses.
