On September 18, 2026, the Deputy Chairman of the Financial and Economic Department of the Moscow Patriarchate, Priest Alexander Privalov, and the Assistant Chairman of the Moscow State University, R.V. Antsupov, visited the construction site of the St. Nicholas Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Murmansk.
With the blessing of the Chairman of the FHU, Metropolitan Nikander of Vladimir and Suzdal, Priest Alexander Privalov and R.V. Antsupov are overseeing the implementation of this large-scale project. Every week, meetings are held via video link with those responsible from Murmansk, where topical issues related to the production of works are discussed. Field meetings are regularly organized directly at the construction site.
On this day, the curators from Moscow were met by K.S. Koronevich, head of the Technical customer's department for construction at "Apatit" JSC, and S.A. Polulekh, an engineer in charge of construction supervision.
To date, the basement of the future cathedral has been erected, at +15.2 m, work is underway on the installation of monolithic reinforced concrete structures: walls, columns, beams, vaults, as well as their waterproofing. At the same time, the installation of reinforced concrete structures of the wing is being completed.
External engineering networks for electricity and sanitation are being laid on the territory of the temple. In the near future, contractors will start developing a trench for sewer pipes.
By the end of the year, it is planned to erect monolithic structures up to + 24.350 m.
Priest Alexander Privalov inspected the progress of the cathedral's construction, made a number of comments and rationalization proposals. I discussed with those responsible the timing and quality of the work performed.
