A scientific and practical round table was held at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, which was attended by the heads of the country's main museums, abbots of monasteries, art historians, restorers and teachers of St. Petersburg State University.
The participants of the event discussed the experience of working together, new approaches to spiritual and educational activities and how cultural institutions work with objects of religious value.
One of the most striking examples of cooperation is the transfer by the Hermitage of the Holy Trinity Alexander Nevsky Lavra in 2023 of the sarcophagus and the inner wooden ark for the relics of the Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky.
"When we talk about the transfer of the tomb of Alexander Nevsky to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, I do not mention the word "return." After a hundred years, it is no longer a return, it is a union with the relics. This is not about property, but it is a serious spiritual event that we have accomplished together," said Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director General of the State Hermitage Museum.
"Often, for a person who has crossed the threshold of a church museum for the first time, spaces open up for the knowledge of God and his providence, through the history of his native land, communion with the beautiful and eternal," said Bishop Veniamin of Kronstadt, vicar of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra.
Within the framework of the round table, four thematic sessions were held on the scientific aspects of the work, as well as the preservation of spiritual values.
