Recruitment to an open resource group for foster parents and candidates for foster parents has started within the framework of the project "From the monastery to the parents". The project is being implemented by the autonomous non—profit organization "Center for the Development of Social Projects" with the support of the International Grant Competition "Orthodox Initiative - 2024" and the Center for Family Structure and Church Guardianship of Children of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service.
Participants of the open resource group for foster parents and candidates for foster parents will meet every week with experts in the field of child rights protection and support for substitute families, priests, Orthodox psychologists. They will discuss issues of raising children in the Orthodox faith, approaches and technologies in working with different children, difficult cases.
Assistance to the family arrangement of orphans is one of the priority areas of the social ministry of the Russian Orthodox Church. Manuals are published in the Church, educational thematic seminars and field workshops are held, two Orthodox schools of foster parents operate: the Family Center at the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery in Moscow and the Orthodox school of foster parents "Tenderness" in St. Petersburg, the work of church specialists with crisis blood families of children is developing.
