Argentine President Javier Miley was received at an audience by Pope Francis at the Vatican, February 12, Prensa Latina reports.
The audience took place in the Library of the Apostolic Palace and lasted almost sixty minutes. After that, the traditional exchange of gifts between the two sides took place.
After the meeting with the Pope, the President spoke with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See. In this conversation, the good relations between the Vatican and Argentina were confirmed, as well as the desire to further strengthen them. The program of the new government of the southern country to overcome the economic crisis was also discussed.
Javier Miley, at a meeting in the Vatican, admitted an error in the statement in which he called Francis "the representative of the evil one on earth."
Before being elected head of state, he called the primate of the Catholic Church "an imbecile", "a son of a bitch preaching communism", as well as "an idiot defending social justice".
After Miley took office as president, Francis, who is also from Argentina, called the new leader of the country and congratulated him on his appointment.
