On August 18, 2026, the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate hosted a meeting between Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the DECR, and Metropolitan Nectarius of Kerkyra, Paxia, and Diapontia Islands, who had arrived in Moscow the day before at the head of a delegation from the Kerkyra Metropolia of the Greek Orthodox Church. The delegation accompanies the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt during the bringing of this shrine to Russia for the worship of believers.
The DECR Chairman warmly welcomed the guest and thanked him for the spiritual joy brought to the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church in connection with the opportunity to meet the great Christian shrine preserved on the island of Corfu in Greece.
At the end of the conversation, the participants venerated the right hand of St. Spyridon. Metropolitan Anthony thanked Metropolitan Nektary for bringing the shrine to the walls of the Department for External Church Relations, expressing the hope that the prayerful intercession of St. Spyridon would accompany the DECR staff in their labors.
At the end of the meeting, the hierarchs exchanged memorable gifts.
