Speaking on December 20, 2024, in the Hall of the Church Cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior Cathedral at the annual meeting of the Moscow (city) Diocese, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia once again drew attention to the challenges facing the Russian world.

"Our country organically unites people of different worldviews and ethnic backgrounds, because we have a common history, a rich experience of joint creation and defense of the Fatherland. Persistent attempts to introduce ethno—religious tension into society are one of the most serious threats to our historical unity. Russian Russians' desire to challenge the state-forming role of the Russian people, to push the Russian people to the periphery of the understanding of the historical process and thus actually rewrite our entire history serves to realize this threat," His Holiness outlined the problem, addressing the audience.

As the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted, "such statements, which directly echo Lenin's national policy of a century ago, cannot but be called simply hostile, aimed at dividing society and threatening Russia itself."

"The lesson of the historical upheavals of 1917 and the civil unrest that followed must not be forgotten by us, and the ideas that crushed the lives of our people at that time must not be allowed to bring suffering and calamity to our common Fatherland again," His Holiness Patriarch Kirill concluded.
