With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, a circular letter from the Moscow Patriarchate's business manager, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection, on a church-wide money collection for internally displaced persons and injured civilians of the Kursk Region was sent to all diocesan Reverends of the Russian Orthodox Church. A similar circular letter was also sent to the Right Reverend bishops, the governors of the vicariates of Moscow, and the chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism.
"Due to the difficult military situation and the increasing number of internally displaced persons and injured civilians in the Kursk region (several districts of the Kursk region are currently forcibly evacuated — the total number of internally displaced persons is more than 190,000 people, in particular on 08/15/2024 — it was decided to evacuate another district of the Kursk region — Glushkovsky district) the humanitarian situation in the region It remains very difficult. "In order to support people in distress, provide them with vital things, housing, medical and legal assistance, His Holiness the Patriarch appeals to all faithful children of the Church of Christ to show mercy and take part in raising funds for internally displaced persons and injured civilians of the Kursk region," the document says.
The gathering will be announced in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church on the territory of the Russian Federation on August 18, 19, 25 and 28. The collected funds should be transferred to a special account of the Moscow Patriarchate according to the details specified in the circular letter.
