On November 10, 2025, at the XII Church-Wide Congress on Social Service, a meeting was held on the issues of providing assistance to veterans of the SVR and their families. The event was attended by the coordinator of the pastoral care service for those who returned from the front and their families of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, Priest Evgeny Lishchenyuk, Senator of the Russian Federation Alexey Kondratiev, head of the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland Yulia Belekhova, and the coordinators of diocesan services for those who returned from the front and their families. The meeting participants discussed issues of spiritual support for veterans. 
During the meeting, Priest Evgeny Lishchenyuk noted the importance of pastoral care for veterans of the SVR and their families. He also drew the attention of the meeting participants to the need for cooperation with church aid centers in support of those who returned from the front.
Since 2022, the Synodal Department for Charity has been operating a pastoral care service for those who returned from the front and their families. In February 2025, with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the "Return" project was launched, which aims to organize the Church's work on socio-psychological assistance and spiritual support to veterans of the SVR and their family members. Also at the meeting, Yulia Belekhova shared her experience of supporting people in difficult situations, spoke about finding solace in faith, spiritual help for those who returned from the front and their families. She also noted that it is important to involve ITS veterans to help others.
"Words are not always needed to overcome a loss. In moments of grief, a person thinks that his life is over, there is no point in it. That's why sometimes we switch people to help and send them to hospitals. They come to help and understand that they can still be useful," Yulia Belekhova shared.
