On July 27, 2024, the first youth festival of book culture "The Space of Words" was held on the territory of the Muzeon Art Park in the Gorky Central Park of Culture in Moscow. The forum is organized by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
One of the central events of the festival was the panel discussion "The Russian word and the challenges of the time". It took place within the framework of the thematic direction "The Church and the writing community, a platform for cultural dialogue".
Hieromonk Makariy (Komogorov), Deputy Chairman of the Publishing Council, spoke about his experience of traveling to new regions and stressed that the book is very necessary there.
Chairman of the Union of Writers of Russia N.F. Ivanov noted that 33 councils of young writers have been established throughout Russia. A separate topic in his speech was the situation in the zone of a special military operation. The Chairman of the Writers' Union stressed that the works dedicated to these events should be created by their participants. 
The editor-in-chief of Literaturnaya Gazeta, M.A. Zamshev, expressed the hope that the difficulties of our time will cause a cultural renaissance in the country.
Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Malenko V.V. noted that young people need to be explained: a person without a book is like a person without hands, a person needs a book no less. 
The main topic of the speech of the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Yu.G. Kurovskaya was the textbook as the most important literature for the younger generation.
Archpriest Kirill Sladkov, Chairman of the Youth Affairs Department of the Moscow (City) Diocese, shared his experience of working with young people, as well as his parental experience.
All participants of the meeting agreed that books and reading are necessary for all age groups today, and nowadays there are many examples of the demand for good literature and journalism.
