Metropolitan Kitiros and Antikythera Seraphim of the Greek Orthodox Church have called on their flock to pray for the persecuted Christians of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the omophorion of "Confessor-Metropolitan" Onuphrius of Kyiv and All Ukraine. This call to prayer comes on the occasion of a new church indictment.

In his message, Metropolitan Seraphim wrote that bishops, priests, and laypeople of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church should have the opportunity to "freely and without any persecution or harassment perform divine worship and fulfill Christian duties" under the omophorion of Metropolitan Onuphrius.

Metropolitan Seraphim's message was read in all the parishes of the Kitiros Diocese on Sunday, September 3rd. This is not the first time that Metropolitan Kitiros has expressed support for the canonical Ukrainian Church. In March, he called on all churches to condemn the persecution of the monks of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. According to Metropolitan Seraphim, the holy places of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which have been living, thriving, and spiritually shining for 10 centuries, have been revived and restored in recent times by 200 monks. However, the state decided to expel the monks from their abode of repentance. Metropolitan Seraphim emphasized, "Sorrow and weeping are appropriate in this sad and lowly case."
