A sharp conflict has erupted between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the government. Thirteen clergy, including Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, were arrested on charges of inciting protests. Church leaders accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of orchestrating persecution and violating religious freedom. In a historic event, the heads of the Catholic and Anglican Churches prayed together for the first time in nearly five centuries. On October 22, during King Charles III’s visit to the Vatican, the monarch and Pope Leo XIV held a joint prayer service in the Sistine Chapel under Michelangelo’s Last Judgment. The service, conducted in English and Latin, featured the choirs of the Vatican and Windsor. Montenegrin President Jakov Milatic posthumously awarded Metropolitan Amfilohije (Radović) the nation’s highest order on the fifth anniversary of his death. A historic joint service between the Russian and Macedonian Orthodox Churches took place on Valaam Island. The Macedonian delegation, led by Metropolitan Peter of Prespa and Pelagonia, concelebrated with Bishops Pancratius and Nicholas in the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The event marked the first joint liturgy since the Macedonian Church received autocephaly, which participants hailed as “a day of historic unity.”
