On June 2, 2026, the Forum of the Sisters of Mercy of the Belarusian Exarchate "Traditions of Mercy: from heart to heart" opened in Mogilev. The event, which brought together more than 230 participants from all over the country, was chaired by the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl.
The forum was organized by the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service of the Belarusian Exarchate and the Mogilev Diocese with the support of the Brotherhood in Honor of St. John the Theologian of Minsk.
The Sisterhoods of Mercy of the Belarusian Exarchate have a long history and play an important role in helping those in need — hospital patients, lonely elderly people, and the disabled. The Forum aims to support this movement and develop a strategy for its further development.
In an interview with journalists, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus noted the importance of systematic assistance to people in medical and social institutions. "We have gathered to discuss the sisterhood movement, which is developing in Belarus and bearing good fruit. There is always an opportunity to analyze difficulties, talk about development prospects, and how best practices can be widely implemented. People really need such support in medical institutions and boarding houses. The Sisters of Mercy try to show Christian love, which helps people overcome illnesses, maintain a good mood, and, most importantly, strengthen themselves with the Sacraments, and fight their weaknesses," said the archpastor.
The program of the event included speeches, discussions and exchange of experience aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Church, the state and public organizations in the field of charity, social and medical services, and spiritual mentoring.
