Bishop Zosima of Magnitogorsk and Verkhneuralsky visited two hospitals in Belgorod on May 25, 2026. Vladyka performed prayer services for health and talked with the seriously wounded soldiers and doctors of the hospital, providing them with spiritual support.
Volunteers of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission, together with the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery of Mercy of the Belgorod Diocese, have been working in military hospitals in Belgorod since September 2024. During this time, more than 680 volunteers from all over the country took part in the work.
In March, Bishop Ignatius of Cherepovets and Belozersky visited Belgorod hospitals and hospital volunteers of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission.
"Our volunteers serving in Belgorod hospitals are those without whom it would be very difficult for both the wounded soldiers and the staff," said Evelina Shpakovich, coordinator of hospital volunteers at the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission. "Only the volunteers of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission are entrusted with participating in such a responsible task, and we are doing everything to justify this trust and be present where we are really needed, every day from morning to evening, all year round, regardless of holidays, vacations, vacations and other events."
The Russian Orthodox Church has been helping civilians in Donbas since February 2022. There are 12 church aid centers operating in the border areas, Moscow and the conflict zone, which have processed over 387,000 requests. More than 4,250 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered to the victims. More than 7,350 volunteers participated in helping the victims. Over 780 private homes have been restored as part of the project to restore private housing for those in need in the conflict zone. The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission coordinates the social assistance of the Church in the regions of the SVR zone.
