The children of Taimyr reindeer herders visited the museums and Orthodox churches of Norilsk within the framework of the Orthodox Initiative — 2023 project, the press service of the administration of the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets Municipal District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory reports.


In Norilsk, young nomads visited the Orthodox museum at the Church of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church. The children heard stories about the role of mothers in the lives of the holy New Martyrs of the Russian Church. The guys admired the temple paintings. Interest was aroused by the Norilsk Calvary and the northern lights on the fresco depicting St. Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky) baptizing a baby in the fishing machine Plakhino 180 km from Dudinka.


The Orthodox Initiative Competition is an annual event organized by the Russian Orthodox Church, which aims to encourage and support initiatives related to the promotion of Orthodox culture, participation in charity and the development of new pedagogical approaches to educating young people.
