With the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, a prayer service for the beginning of the new academic year for cadets, teachers and leadership of the Sukharev Moscow Academy of the Investigative Committee was conducted by the head of the Department's sector, cleric of the Main Church of the Armed Forces, Priest Alexander Palaznik.
Alexey Bessonov, Rector of the Academy, Maxim Malyshkin, head of the Personnel Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, and representatives of the central office of the department prayed with the future investigators at the service.
Addressing the cadets, Father Alexander reminded them of the inextricable link between professional duty and spiritual life. An investigative officer is confronted daily with human tragedies, lies and crimes in his work. In order to remain faithful to the oath, to be objective, and not to harden his heart, it is not enough for a defender of the rule of law to know the codes alone — he needs a solid moral foundation.
A joint prayer before the start of classes captures an important principle of the training of Russian officers: service to the earthly Law and the Fatherland should always be based on an unshakable inner, spiritual law.
