At the end of the Divine Liturgy, on December 5, Archbishop Nikanor of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Kurilsky consecrated the chapel of the Great Martyr Fyodor Tyrone in Kurilsk (fr. Iturup).
The service was attended by patrons of construction, the mayor of Kurilsk Konstantin Stomin, military personnel, members of the public and residents of the island city.
At the end of the consecration ceremony, His Eminence addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the role of the initiators of the construction of the temple in the spiritual revival of Sakhalin and the Kuriles.
Further, the celebration of the 20th anniversary of St. George's Church continued with a concert in the cultural and business center of Kurilsk. The folklore ensemble "Sofia" of the Sofia Korsakov Cultural Center (artistic director Anna Kostenko) arrived to congratulate the Kuril residents. In addition to the concert performances, the guests also brought a game program, which was actively attended by yunarmeyts and residents of all ages.
