The 30th anniversary of the glorification of St. John of Shanghai was prayerfully celebrated in San Francisco and Moscow

On June 27, 2024, a prayer service with an akathist was held at the Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Mourn" in San Francisco (California, USA) to St. John, Archbishop of Shanghai, San Francisco Wonderworker, the website of the Russian Church Abroad reports.
The divine service was led by Bishop James of Sonora in the co-ministry of the clergy of the diocese. Before the beginning of the prayer service, the shrine with the incorruptible relics of the saint was moved to the middle of the cathedral. The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, Archbishop Kirill of San Francisco and Western America, Bishop Theodosius of Seattle and Bishop Alexander (Echevarria) prayed at the service.
On June 28, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the relics of St. John, Archbishop of Shanghai, San Francisco Wonderworker, an all-night vigil was held in the cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Mourn". Before the service, a meeting of the miraculous Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God took place.
The All-night vigil was led by Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York. His Eminence was co-served by Archbishop Kirill of San Francisco and Western America, Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Central America, Bishop Irenaeus of London and Western Europe, Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, Bishop Luke of Syracuse, Bishop James of Sonora, Bishop Alexander (Echevarria), Bishop Nicholas (Soraich), and a host of clergy.
On June 29, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad led the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All who Mourn". His Eminence was co-served by the aforementioned bishops, as well as Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco and Western America (Orthodox Church in America), representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches. 
At the end of the Liturgy, a prayer service was held with a procession around the cathedral.


On July 2, 2024, the memorial day of St. John, Archbishop of Shanghai and San Francisco, the wonderworker, the 30th anniversary of the glorification of St. John of Shanghai in the face of saints, celebrations were also held in the Moscow Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr on Vspolye, a compound of the Orthodox Church in America, in honor of this significant date. 
The Divine Liturgy was led by Bishop Alexy of Solnechnogorsk, vicar of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, vicar of St. Daniel's Monastery. His Eminence was co-served by: Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemyatovsky), representative of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia at the Moscow Patriarchate, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in Kotelniki; Archpriest Daniel Andreyuk, rector of the Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr on Vspolye, representative of the Orthodox Church in America at the Moscow Patriarchate; Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, rector of the Church of the Resurrection of the Living in Danilovskaya Sloboda; Archpriest Christopher Hill, cleric of the Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr on Vspolye; Archpriest John Gerasimovich, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Pushkino, Moscow region; Priest Athanasius Ogeruk, cleric of the Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr on Vspolye; Hierodeacon Sophrony (Mikhalsky); Protodeacon Dionysius Letunovsky; Deacon Konstantin Gerasimovich. During the service, the choir of the church of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine on the Vspolye sang under the guidance of Mother Vera Andreyuk.

After the prayer of prayer, St. John of Shanghai was glorified in the troparion, kontakion, prayer and magnification.

After his release, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada were proclaimed many years.

These days, the belt of St. John of Shanghai resides in the church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr on the Vspolye. Many worshipers from Moscow and other Russian cities took part in the celebrations.
