In the church in honor of St. George the Victorious in the Tver Suvorov School, all exterior work has already been completed, the building has been connected to the power grid. The interior decoration is coming to an end, the floor has been laid, and now the iconostasis is expected to be installed.

The rector of the Ascension Church in Dudino, Priest Valery Yukin, is engaged in pastoral work at the Suvorov School, including the construction of the temple. Every Sunday, a bus with Suvorov soldiers departs to the parish in the village of Dudino, where Father Valery serves. More than 220 students of the school have already visited Dudino. At the service, the children take part in the Sacraments of confession, communion, and unction, and after the service they talk with the priest.
Interest in Orthodoxy is shown not only by Suvorov residents, but also by school teachers and unit commanders.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
