On October 12, 2026, the opening of the XXIX Republican Scientific and Educational Conference "Pokrovsky Readings", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Year of the Pridnestrovian People and the Day of the City of Tiraspol, took place at the T.G. Shevchenko Pridnestrovian State University.
Before the conference, an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill was opened. The exhibition is dedicated to the life of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church and his Primatial ministry, as well as a visit to the borders of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese in 2013.
The plenary session was opened by the University's Vice-rector for Scientific and Innovative Work, Doctor of Economics, Professor V.N. Bosyuk.
The presidium was attended by Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary, Head of the State Service for Documentation and Archives of the PMR Z.G. Todorashko and her deputy, Adviser to the ruling Bishop on Culture and Education N.V. Dymchenko. Among the participants of the conference were representatives of the clergy, Suvorov students, cadets, cadets and students.
Archbishop Savva addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
In the subsequent speech by the director of the Center for the Study of Cultural, Historical and Spiritual Heritage, Associate Professor N.V. Dymchenko, Candidate of Cultural Studies, "The visit of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia as a religious and educational landmark for the spiritual development of the Pridnestrovian people," the significance of the Primatial visit in the context of the spiritual and cultural life of Pridnestrovie was considered.
Priest Maxim Sergeev, a cleric of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord under construction in Tiraspol and a military priest of the Tiraspol Suvorov Military School, presented the report "Under the Protection of Faith."
V.I. Badyan, a member of the Youth Parliament under the Supreme Council of the PMR and a leading researcher at the Institute for Socio-Political Research and Regional Development, made a presentation on "Political and philosophical understanding of Orthodox ideas about public service in the history of Russia."
The conference continued in sections: "Orthodoxy, history and culture", "Orthodoxy and Philology", "Orthodoxy and Pedagogy", "Orthodoxy and state security". The participants discussed the role of Orthodoxy in the life of society and the importance of Christian values in the upbringing of the younger generation.
