The exhibition "People of the Church: a History of One Kind", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, opened in the Federation Council building in Moscow.
The project, organized by the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Management Company for the Development of the Sarov-Diveevo Cluster and the Nizhny Novgorod Region" together with the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese, consists of two blocks.
The first part of the exhibition is devoted to the life story of His Holiness the Patriarch's ancestors. It features exhibits from the collections of the Arzamas Museum of the Russian Patriarchate and the house museum "Confessor of the Faith of Christ - Priest Vasily Gundyaev" in Lukoyanov, Nizhny Novgorod region.
The grandfather, father, and brother of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church were clergymen. His Holiness's grandfather Vasily Gundyaev was born in the village of Obrochnoye, Lukoyanovsky district, Nizhny Novgorod province (now the territory of the Republic of Mordovia). He worked in Lukoyanov as a mechanical engineer on the Moscow-Kazan Railway.
Biographies, photo reproductions of documents, personal belongings, certificates of exile, and samples of priestly vestments are presented on information stands telling about the fate of members of the Gundyaev family.
The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Arzamas - Diveevo—Sarov pilgrimage and tourism cluster and the role of Patriarch Kirill in the formation and development of this project.
The cluster was established in the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2018 with the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin and with the blessing of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. At various times, his Primatial visits marked the restoration of churches in Arzamas, Sarov and Diveevo monasteries.
The information on the stands highlights the stages of formation and development of the cluster, the areas of work and the main activities of the program.
