On the eve of Sobriety Day, which is celebrated annually on September 11 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, the 5th roller "Sobriety Run" took place in Minsk on September 5. One of the main organizers of the race was traditionally the Coordination Center of the Belarusian Exarchate for Combating Drug Addiction and Alcoholism in honor of the Martyr Boniface.
In the run under the motto "Live soberly! Do good!" was attended by those who advocate for a healthy and active lifestyle: young families with children,
university students, coaches and representatives of roller clubs of the republic, members of Orthodox sobriety societies of Minsk and just supporters of an active lifestyle from many cities of Belarus.
At the start, the participants of the race were addressed by the head of the coordination center, Archpriest Dionysius Piasetsky, who also took part in the race.
From year to year, sobriety runs are gaining popularity: despite the difficult weather conditions, about 100 participants completed the distance and received commemorative medals. Traditionally, sobriety runs are not competitive in nature:
The joy of movement, interesting communication and vivid emotions are the main reward for all participants.
