On March 26, the Mariinsky Palace hosted a scientific and practical conference "Legal Relations between the State and the Church in Russian History. Examples of holy martyrdom." This was reported in the press service of the Legislative Assembly of the Northern capital.
Denis Chetyolbok, Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the City on Neva, read out a welcoming speech by Alexander Belsky, Speaker of the St. Petersburg Parliament.
"Today, the focus is on fundamental issues that, in the modern realities of the information war against our Homeland, acquire a special deep meaning. The social service of the Russian Orthodox Church, the role of religion in national identity, traditional family values in Russian law — all these topics are important for uniting Russians and determining the vector of development of our society," the appeal said.
The conference program covered a wide range of relevant topics. The participants discussed issues of strengthening state sovereignty and stability of Russian society through the prism of historical and legal experience of cooperation between the state and religious organizations.
The discussion was attended by leading scientists, lawyers, historians and conflict scientists, as well as law students from Moscow, the Northern Capital and Rostov-on-Don. The spiritual component of the discussion was presented by Bishop Veniamin, Vicar of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Bishop Siluan, Rector of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, and other representatives of the clergy.
