On the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, parishioners of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in Slavyanka, Vladivostok diocese, together with pupils of the Derzhava Club, led by Valentin Trishin, honored the memory of Soviet soldiers. The participants of the action marched to the memorial complex, where the soldiers who gave their lives in the Second World War are buried.
In the early morning, believers and young Cossacks moved out of the village of Slavyanka towards the village of Tsukanovo. Leaving the transport at the outskirts of the village, the participants of the hike covered more than five kilometers on foot over rough terrain to the burial site of the soldiers. The day before, the monument was reconstructed: new slabs were installed and plaques with the names of the heroes were replaced.
At the burial site, the rector of the Church of the Nativity, Archpriest Anatoly Kolesnikov, celebrated a requiem mass for the fallen soldiers. Before the start of the service, all those present laid flowers at the memorial, and Valentin Trishin told the audience in detail the story of the fighting that led to the death of our fellow countrymen-heroes.
- This is not the first march that we have made with the guys, but this time it was complicated by impassable road conditions. We had to cross the river three times. The current is pretty fast, the water is cold, but we managed. And while we were walking to the historical monument, it was raining all the time. The conditions were not comfortable at all, but it did not affect either the mood or the desire to get to the burial site," said Ksenia, a parishioner of the Slavic Church.
In memory of the thirteen soldiers, pupils of the Cossack club and parishioners lit thirteen lamps.
In memory of the fallen heroes, the parishioners of the Christmas Church marched to the burial place of the soldiers on Khasanskaya land.
