On September 13, 2026, Metropolitan Mitrofan of Murmansk and Monchegorsk consecrated the chapel in honor of the Royal Passion-Bearers, located on the second floor of the new terminal of the Murmansk Nicholas II airport.
Boris Korchevnikov, General Director of the "Spas" TV channel, the clergy of the Murmansk diocese, and airport passengers attended the consecration.
The head of the Murmansk Archdiocese congratulated those present and stressed that the opening of the chapel is a big step in restoring the historical memory of the Kola Region.
"We must not forget who is the founder of the city of Romanov-on-Murman, through whose prayers our region is flourishing — the Holy Passion—Bearers, the Kola Saints and all saints - this is our hope and hope," said Bishop Mitrofan.
Metropolitan Mitrofan also answered questions from a correspondent of the "Spas" TV channel and spoke about the unique icons of the chapel.
The chapel was erected by the efforts of the Murmansk Diocese in cooperation with the government of the Murmansk region and "Novaport Holding" company with the participation of philanthropist A.P. Biba.
