The event was attended by Archpriest Mikhail Potokin, Acting Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service, and Vakhtang Kipshidze, Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society Relations and the Media.
The participants of the press conference spoke about the meanings of Easter, church and folk traditions, Easter events and the Church's help on the day of the Resurrection of Christ. The press conference was held as part of the Religion and Worldview project.
"On Easter day, we will share our joy with everyone, including people who suffered in the conflict zone and in the border areas," said Archpriest Mikhail Potokin. — Many people are now homeless there, living in temporary accommodation or with relatives. They will be given Easter gifts, cakes and eggs in our help centers. Gifts will also be sent to remote villages, where it is difficult for people to leave. Volunteers will visit lonely elderly people and people with disabilities, bring them food to the festive table and help them clean up before Easter. In order to feel the Easter holiday, it is important to share joy with other people, help the homeless, the lonely, the needy, and support others."
According to Father Mikhail, during Holy Week, repair volunteers and social volunteers of the Synodal Department for Charity will rebuild houses in Yasinovataya, Donetsk and Mariupol, provide humanitarian aid, and help in hospitals and hospitals.
In addition, festive dinners for the homeless will be held in Moscow at the Flora and Lavra Temple on Zatsep and at the Salvation Hangar. All guests will receive Easter cakes and eggs.
"Now we celebrate Easter and Christmas at the Flora and Lavra Church on Zatsep together with the homeless," said Archpriest Mikhail Potokin. — It's good to have family and friends at home. But there are people who don't have a home, they have no one to share the Easter joy with. That's why we try to organize dinners for them. We and our volunteers also like this form of holiday greetings.
