The Four Winds meeting of young sailors' clubs was held on September 27 on the Sidorovsky Canal embankment in Lomonosov. Before the competition, Acting Chairman of the Diocesan Commission on Family, Motherhood and Childhood, Priest Rustik Sivolapov served a prayer service for the beginning of a good cause.
Teams of marine clubs, cadet classes and schools, teenage youth centers and Navy conscripts from 14 to 18 years old participated.
The members of the commission provided moral and prayerful support to the children, and took part in the award ceremony.
"The sea is a great and harsh element," said Father Rustik. - It does not tolerate random people, strengthens the will, teaches loyalty to camaraderie, discipline and love for the Fatherland. But behind every steering wheel, properly connected by a sea knot and victory, there is not only the personal work of a young man or a girl, their mentors and teachers. They have the love, patience, and prayer of their parents behind them. The family is a reliable harbor from where the young ship goes on a big voyage and where he can always return for support. We have come to share this joy with you and say - we are proud of you, we wish you a fair wind and God's help!"
The marine all-around program includes rigging training (knitting sea knots), mooring, feeding a throwing end and a lifebuoy, a quiz "Lighthouses and signs of the Gulf of Finland" and a competition for knowledge of the maritime English language. Additionally, master classes were held on derrickboats and a yacht.
