The icon of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John was transferred to the village of Sukharevo, Belgorod region. This is the sixth image transmitted to the monastery from the Holy Land.
The image was transferred as part of the Gifts of the Holy Land project. This project has been blessed by three Patriarchs: His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Patriarch Theophilus lll of Jerusalem and All Palestine, and Patriarch Ilia ll of Georgia, and is being implemented by the Jerusalem Pilgrimage Community "Eleon 2000".
This icon went through a special path: it was present at the night liturgies of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in the churches of Gethsemane and was attached to many shrines of the Holy Land and, finally, consecrated at a prayer service at the Spaso-Voznesensky Monastery on Mount Eleon. It should be recalled that this is the sixth icon that has arrived in the New Jerusalem on Belgorod land. The first image transferred was the icon of the Mother of God "Jerusalem" on December 1, 2012. In memory of this event, numerous Religious processions are held annually in Sukharevo.
