On the anniversary of the shelling of Belgorod by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on December 30, 2024, which killed 25 people, including four children, funeral services were held in the temples of the city.
With the blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Starooskolsky celebrated a litiya for the victims at the spontaneous memorial, the Wounded Heart of Belgorod.
Metropolitan John addressed the participants of the divine service with a speech. The bishop also said that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill had called him before the start of the requiem mass. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church once again expressed his prayerful support to the residents of St. Belogorie and wished everyone patience and fortitude.
At the end of the Litiya, a prayer was offered for Holy Russia.
