On the day of the celebration of the 525th anniversary of the finding of the Minsk Icon of the Mother of God, on August 26, 2025, a solemn cathedral procession took place along Pobediteley Avenue in the capital of Belarus, which ended the IV All-Belarusian procession "Zhirovichi – Minsk". In 9 days, the pilgrims walked 250 kilometers with prayer for the Church, their loved ones, peace and well-being of Belarus and fraternal states. Together with them, the venerated lists of the miraculous icons of the Mother of God "Zhirovichskaya" and "Minsk", as well as other shrines, arrived in Minsk.
The tradition of holding a prayer procession, which unites worshippers from different parts of Belarus, originated in 2022 and now more and more pilgrims set off every year. This year, believers from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania, the Netherlands and Germany joined the crusaders. More than 700 participants were registered at the start of the procession in Zhirovichi alone. Hundreds of pilgrims joined them at various points along the way.
According to tradition, the Crusaders' route passed through four dioceses – Novogrudok, Pinsk, Molodechno and Minsk. The pilgrims visited 21 temples, and every day they traveled from 20 to 40 kilometers long. Archbishop Guriy of Novogrudok and Slonim blessed the pilgrims in the Holy Dormition Zhirovichi Monastery. On the fifth day of the procession, the Primate of the Belarusian Orthodox Church joined the worshippers.
In the early morning of August 26, the procession left the Zhdanovichi Church of the Ascension of the Lord to the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos in Minsk on Pobediteley Avenue, and then headed to the Holy Spirit Cathedral. Numerous clergy and believers from all dioceses of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, residents and guests of the city joined the prayer procession along Pobediteley Avenue in Minsk. On the final day, several thousand people took part in a prayer march through the city of Minsk.
The procession ended near the Holy Spirit Cathedral, at the walls of which the pilgrims were greeted by the Primate of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. Greeting the participants of the procession, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to them for the efforts they had put up to accomplish the feat of prayer for loved ones, for those far away, for the Fatherland and for other countries and peoples who are close to us in faith, in our hearts.
Later, the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, led the festive Divine Liturgy, co-served by the hierarchs and clergy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
