The Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God and the image of St. Gabriel (Urgebadze) were donated by one of the parishioners of the temple.
According to the dean of the Iultinsky district, rector of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross P. Egvekinot, Priest Vladimir Kozak, from now on the shrines will permanently reside in the temple.
"This was made possible thanks to the generous heart of one of our parishioners — I bow low to her for this priceless gift. For our parish, this is not just a replenishment of the temple decoration, but a real spiritual event. Now our parishioners will have another opportunity to offer prayer before the images of saints glorified by their help," Father Vladimir said.
The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God has long been revered as the patroness of the family and children, she is called a guide and protector on the path of life. And the image of St. Gabriel (Urgebadze) reminds believers of the power of humility and fervent, active love for people — how even in the simplest deeds one can manifest the true Christian faith.
The shrines have already taken their place in the church and will now participate in the liturgical life of the parish.
"Two such different icons — the ancient defender of the Russian land and the modern lamp of faith from the Caucasus — now stand together in our church. Through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and St. Gabriel, may the Lord save and have mercy on us all!" concluded the rector.
