The Training Center of the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, together with the Berdyansk Diocese and the Ministry of Health of the Zaporizhia region, opened a simulation class in Berdyansk to train junior nurses and professional nursing volunteers. On June 11, 2026, Bishop Peter of Berdyansk and Primorsky consecrated a new classroom.
"The teacher of our Training Center is coming to Berdyansk for the fourth time. Now there is a classroom equipped with multifunctional beds and everything necessary for conducting courses. We train care professionals so that seriously ill people can receive professional care, care, and a decent quality of life. As a church hospital, it is especially important for us that more and more people are involved in voluntary service," said Alexey Zarov, Chief physician of St. Alexy's Hospital.
The previously trained volunteers are already helping in the departments of neurology, traumatology and surgery at Berdyansk Hospital.
"The opening of the second educational class of St. Alexy's Hospital in the Zaporizhia region marks a new page in the development of hospital ministry. This will help train more assistants for our hospitals and social services who will be able to professionally and compassionately take care of seriously ill and injured patients. We also hope that regular training will attract new dedicated members to our sisterhood. Caring for one's neighbors shows a living fulfillment of God's commandment," said Archpriest Vyacheslav Stadnik, head of the Department for Cooperation with medical institutions of the Berdyansk Diocese, confessor of the St. Luke of Crimea Sisterhood of Mercy.
At the moment, the first practical classes have been completed in the classroom. Nine trainees mastered the skills of feeding bedridden patients, positioning, moving, transporting, general care procedures and personal hygiene of the patient. After successful certification, the St. Alexy's Hospital Training Center will issue them certificates of profession assignment as a "Junior Nursing Nurse."
"We highly appreciate the cooperation with St. Alexy's Hospital. Working together allows us to train care specialists right at the college," said Oksana Grishchenko, Director of Berdyansk Medical College.
Earlier this May, St. Alexy's Hospital opened a training simulation class at the Melitopol Medical College.
The support of the Christian Charity Foundation has made it possible to equip classrooms in the Zaporizhia region with everything necessary for professional training.
