On December 24, 2024, the Historical Museum of Serbia in Belgrade opened the exhibition titled *"The World in the Picture – The Picture of the World: Visual Culture and Art of Traditional Churches and Religious Communities"*. The exhibition showcases works inspired by the religious and cultural heritage of various confessions and peoples living in Serbia, as reported by rts.rs.

The exhibition features the works of 54 artists representing Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, Islamic, and Jewish communities. It highlights a "symphony of diversity" and underscores the priceless importance of peace and mutual understanding, which are regarded as gifts from God. Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, who attended the opening as an honorary guest, made these remarks.

"Art, in and of itself, has special characteristics – it should reflect the spiritual world, the spiritual consciousness of the individual, and specifically the Church or religious community. In a broader sense, it reflects and embodies the world in which it was created, as well as a prayer for that world. Such exhibitions allow people of different religions and nations to get to know one another, find positive ways of interaction and communication, and ultimately understand that we were all created by the Lord as one humanity," said Patriarch Porfirije at the opening.

Curators emphasized diversity in poetic and artistic techniques to highlight the richness of the material world. The exhibition includes icons, religious artifacts, and works on religious themes. "We have icons, we have objects used in the practices of other religions, but that was not the focus because this is about depicting the world as creation," explained exhibition curator Professor Oliver Tomić.

The exhibition spans a wide range of artists working in various techniques, from fresco painters and iconographers to photographers, jewelers, and applied artists. "All of them create works connected to religious themes," said Dušica Bojić, Director of the Historical Museum of Serbia and one of the organizers of the event.
