Dmitry Kurdyukov, archpriest, chairman of the missionary department of the Tver Diocese, in an interview with the MK Internet portal, commented on information that the ninth-grader who staged the massacre at a school near Moscow had previously written a manifesto in defense of Christianity, which he sent to friends.
Dmitry Kurdyukov noted: "Until the investigation is completed, we cannot definitively judge the motives of the act. Based on the information currently available, there is no Christianity in what he did. He doesn't position himself as a Christian, he criticizes Christianity. The slogan "nobody's lives matter" is completely un-Christian.
Christianity has never called for settling accounts by killing. The commandment is "Thou shalt not kill," and here the question is closed. The Church blesses only for the defense of the Fatherland, that's all. We are defending the Fatherland. We should not quarrel with our personal enemies, we should treat people with respect and love each other. "Love your enemies," it says, "do good to those who hate you." These are the Christian principles set forth in the Gospel, and they speak for themselves. Therefore, there is no question of any Christianity, no defense of Christianity in the manifesto. It is clear here that the child is simply transmitting some propaganda narratives, and is influenced not by any patriotic organizations, but by Western far-right racist ideologies, as well as political technologies that incite hostility under the pretext of protecting "from aggressive patriotism."
At this age, a student cannot reach mature judgments. I am sure that if accurate knowledge about Orthodoxy were given at school, it would help prevent misconceptions about Christianity and positively influence the moral climate in society."
