His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences in connection with the loss of life as a result of the collapse of the entrances of an apartment building in Nizhny Tagil.
On August 1, 2024, a gas explosion occurred in Nizhny Tagil, as a result of which two entrances of the five-storey building No. 81 on Sibirskaya Street completely collapsed. Later, the building collapsed again. 10 people were killed and 15 injured.
With the blessing of Bishop Feodosiy of Nizhny Tagil and Nevyansky, in the first hours after the explosion, Priest Vasily Rekun, Secretary of the Nizhny Tagil diocese, and Archpriest Oleg Shabalin, head of the social department of the Nizhny Tagil diocese, arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
The clergy of the Nizhny Tagil diocese and the diocesan Department for Church Charity and Social Service provide all necessary assistance to the victims. A collection of warm clothes and basic necessities has been organized.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed condolences in connection with the tragedy to the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region E.V. Kuyvashev and Bishop Feodosiy of Nizhny Tagil and Nevyansk.
"Wholeheartedly sharing with you the pain of loss and worries for the health of loved ones, I express the hope that the Government of the region and the city will not ignore and help those affected by this terrible misfortune. For my part, I would like to assure you that the clergy of the Nizhny Tagil diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church are ready to provide the necessary pastoral support to all those in need," the Patriarchal message to the head of the region says.
"I pray for the repose of the dead and the speedy healing of the injured. May the merciful Lord send down courage and comfort to those who lost their loved ones in this tragedy, may He strengthen the strength of rescuers who selflessly work to dismantle the rubble, and doctors fighting for the lives of the wounded," His Holiness Patriarch Kirill noted.
