After the Divine Liturgy at the Sretensky Church of the Monastery of the Ordination of the Sacrament, on September 27, 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia visited the Resurrection Cathedral of Suzdal. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church worshiped the relics of Saints John and Theodore of Suzdal.
His Holiness was accompanied by Governor of the Vladimir Region A.A. Avdeev, Metropolitan Nikander of Vladimir and Suzdal, and Bishop Alexy of Ramenskoye. Clergy, believers, students of cadet classes of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the city of Vladimir and Orthodox gymnasiums of the Vladimir Metropolitan Area gathered in the cathedral.
After the glorification, His Holiness addressed the audience with a Primatial address, especially addressing the youth. Recalling the persecution of believers during the Soviet era, which also affected his family, the Primate stressed the importance of preserving the Orthodox faith and historical memory.
"Every subsequent generation of Russians must preserve the Orthodox faith out of love for God and in the name of love for their Fatherland," His Holiness Patriarch Kirill noted. He called on high school students and cadets to keep faith and love their homeland, wishing them a dignified life.
His Holiness presented the icon of the Mother of God "Unfading Color" as a gift to the cathedral. Icons of St. Euphrosyne of Suzdal with the Patriarchal blessing were given to all those present.
In the courtyard of the church, the Primate consecrated a bell made in memory of the residents of Suzdal and the Suzdal region who died during a special military operation. Their names are on the bell.
Addressing the relatives of the victims, His Holiness the Patriarch expressed words of support to them and reminded them of the Christian faith in the immortality of the human soul. "Therefore, crying is necessary and possible. But first of all, we need to pray for them," said the Primate, urging to preserve the prayerful memory of the deceased.
Then His Holiness went to the Smolensk skete of the Spaso-Evfimiy Monastery in the Veretievo tract of the Kameshkovsky district. There, a meeting was held with the Governor of the Vladimir Region, A.A. Avdeev, and Metropolitan Nikander of Vladimir and Suzdal.
The Church of the Resurrection at the auction was built in stone in 1720 at the expense of the townspeople on the site of a burnt-out wooden church. In Soviet times, the temple was closed, and later it housed a museum exhibit. At the end of the 20th century, the building was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. After the restoration, on October 27, 2024, the great consecration of the cathedral took place.
