The rector of the Intercession Church in Zaitsevo, Archpriest Nikolai Markovsky, at the request of the directorate and teachers, consecrated secondary school No. 5 in Gorlovka, located in the Kalininsky district of the city. The priest sprinkled holy water on all the rooms, including a gym, a medical room, a dining room, and a library.
Many teachers came to the consecration ceremony. After that, the priest had a conversation with the teachers over a cup of tea and answered their questions about spiritual life. Father Nicholas thanked the teachers for their hard work, and they expressed the wish that the priest would actively participate in this work, and such meetings with teachers and children would take place as often as possible.
Archpriest Nikolai Markovsky conducts class hours at School No. 5 and participates in the teaching of the module "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture". Classes, as in all schools in the city, are held remotely. In addition to the topics covered by the program, the priest raises various interesting questions: about hobbies, the importance of studying and acquiring knowledge. In a trusting atmosphere, children can open up to the priest and to each other, tell about their achievements in something, show the created artworks, share dreams and plans for the future. In addition to the lessons, the priest also spiritually takes care of the classes in which he conducts classes.
Father Nicholas spoke about what the priest's spiritual care of schools is today.:
"Today, there are many different sects, online scams and other dangers that lie in wait for our children. In my opinion, the task of a priest, as well as a teacher, a parent, is not just to tell school material, but to listen with great attention to the problems of children, to what they say, what they want to convey to us, adults. To understand who the child is communicating with, who he is friends with, what problems arise at school, in the yard. Talk to him, find time for this, show interest in his life. I think it's important to convey this to parents and teachers."
