Almost two-thirds of Russians (63%) consider themselves Orthodox Christians. With citizens aged over 60, the proportion is 70%. Among young people, aged 18-30, every second person (51%) considers himself Orthodox. These are the results of a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation and published on the website of the sociological center. The survey results show that 8% of Russians are Muslims, whereas in a group aged 31 to 45 every tenth (10%) of respondents describes himself as a Muslim.

According to POF, the share of Catholics, Protestants, and Greek Catholics combined is 2%, with an equal percent of respondents practicing other religions.

According to the survey, almost every fourth respondent (23%) considers himself an atheist. The figure is bigger in a group of young people aged 18-30, where every third respondent (34%) says he does not believe in God.

The all-Russian opinion poll was conducted from April 8-10, 2022 among 1500 respondents aged 18 and older in 104 towns and settlements (in 53 regions) of the Russian Federation.
