Speaker of the Russian Federal Legislative Assembly (State Duma) Mr. Vyacheslav Volodin at the parliamentary hearing on t he issue of sexual perversions propaganda on Monday observed that the actions of governments that promote perverted sexual behavior and undermine morality and decency are aimed at "destroying the normal world" and "enslaving" other nations.

The State Duma is holding a large parliamentary hearing Monday on initiatives to make any instances of promoting perverted sexual behavior illegal in the Russian Federation.

"How can they claim to be anyone's friends when they push a destructive ideology? - In fact, they are our enemies, they are our foes who destroy the normal world, do even more harm than those who engage in an outright aggression!

This is pretty much a precursor to enslaving free nations. They aim at remaking whole nations; to this end they foment a perverted worldview, and then, through their quislings who have adopted their ideology, come to power," - says the Russian Parliament speaker.

This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
