Pupils of the primary school No. 83 in Vladivostok took an educational tour to the church of the Holy Princes Boris and Gleb. The official Telegram channel of the Vladivostok Diocese of the Primorsky Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Church writes that for many children this event was the first conscious acquaintance with the structure of the Orthodox Church and the rules of conduct in it.
The rector, Priest Alexy Sinenko, met the young guests at the entrance to the temple. The tour started with the basics: the priest explained the church etiquette to the children. The children learned that it is customary to make the sign of the cross before entering, boys should take off their hats, and girls should cover their heads with a headscarf as a sign of respect for the holy place.
Inside the church, Father Alexy, in an accessible form for children, spoke about the architectural features of the building, the meaning of icons and objects of church decoration. The massive liturgical books aroused particular interest among schoolchildren. The priest also told the story of the life and exploits of the first Russian saints, Princes Boris and Gleb, in whose honor this parish was consecrated.
The meeting was held in the format of a lively dialogue: the children actively asked questions, and the parents accompanying them took the opportunity to communicate with the priest in an informal setting. Concluding the tour, Father Alexy parted words to the children, urging them to cherish friendship, always help their loved ones and treat their parents with respect.
